In the Eastern Alps, Maribor is a mountain town with a rich tradition of winemaking. Look no further than the Old Vine House, which, as the name implies, is lined with an old vine. A very old vine, in truth, that has been creeping along the exterior of this building since the 1500s and has stems that look like venerable tree trunks. This vine is located in the Lent area, which goes back to the Drava River and has most of the oldest monuments. The host of the European Capital of Culture 2012, Maribor is delighted with the new bars and restaurants that make Maribor the "latest" place to be. The lovely Old Town hasn't changed, and it's a positive thing! Still charming as ever, a riverside jaunt really gives you a feeling for this lovely city. If you had a glass of wine when you were sitting by the lake, it couldn't have been more idyllic! When you intend to visit Maribor with a party, Coach Charter Germany is your bus company partner.

If you're wondering which locations you should visit in Maribor, here are some suggestions from the bottom of the list. Keep in mind that our Coach Charter Germany's airport shuttle and tour bus coaches are the perfect way to travel around the city quickly and comfortably.
1. Old Vine House
The oldest fruit-bearing vine in the world is growing in the Lent neighborhood next to the Drava. This 440-year-old plant runs along a trellis on the front of the historic house, and its three trunks are lined by iron railings. The first record of the wine was made in 1657 and it is shocking to think of all the calamities, from the two World Wars to the battle of Phylloxera. The building conveniently houses a museum dedicated to Styrian wine and with specific attention to this famous wine.
2. Maribor Pohorje
The Maribor Pohorje ski area is the largest ski area in Slovenia and is located south of Maribor on the Pohorje mountain range in Lower Styria. The resort consists of three sections: the lower section "Snow Stadium", the middle section "Bolfenk" and an upper section called "Areh". You can choose from several nice hotels in the basement of Pohorje or you can hire a bus with a driver in our bus company to carry back you to the center of Maribor.
3. Glavni Trg
Your jump-off point for a breeze through Maribor's history, Glavni Trg is Maribor's main square. Here are some of the area's main attractions, such as the town hall, the Pest column and the old casino. But most of the buildings on the square have a different history. Another has pharmacy designs in panels on the outside, and was the pharmacy of the city for many years. The market tradition of the square revived the farmers' market on Friday mornings, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and regional dishes such as gibanica pastry.
4. Restavracija Villa rustica
Restavracija Villa rustica offers its guests a wonderful culinary and educational experience, as it is located on the edge of the city center in the immediate vicinity of the archeological site of the Roman ruins, opening into a stunning view of the Pohorje Mountains. It has a wide terrace and a large green area outside, making it suitable for a warm and sunny day. In the meantime, the kitchen serves Italian cuisine, and its interior is furnished in an elegant style with exquisite tableware and folklore highlights and rustic decorations. The chartered bus will drive you there.
5. Water Tower
Standing alone on the Drava, this stone tower used to belong to the fortifications of the town of Maribor. It was established in the middle of the 16th century, when a new defensive scheme was devised to repel Turkish attacks. After the tower had outlived its military importance, it was renovated for storage of wine, becoming the oldest wine cellar in Slovenia. The role of the tower has not changed for hundreds of years: you can try a few Styrian wines on the top floor or ask for a recommendation and drink it on your side. Bus rentals at our bus company should make it easier for your party to get there.
6. Maribor Cathedral
The oldest parts of the Maribor Cathedral, built in the 1100s, are of Romanesque architecture. Yet when the town's population shot up in medieval times, there was a gothic revival. A lot of the nave and the chapel date from this period: the pointed arches, the ribbed vaults and the lancet windows in the apse are all Gothic and designed in local yellow sandstone. Later, in the 17th century, the Baroque Tower was raised until 18:00 in the summer. To communicate, a new stained glass window was built. Chartered Bus would be a good partner to visit this historic cathedral.
7. Mestni Park
The lower portion of Maribor's main park is part of the city's scenery, with tree-lined avenues, sculptures, lawns and concert stages on the summer weekends. There is also an aquarium of more than 120 freshwater and saltwater species, as well as a terrarium shared by venomous and other reptiles. But the park continues for a few kilometers up the hill and through the city. Tour Bus will take care of your team transport here.
8. Maribor Castle
So, if you're looking for a castle in Maribor, you can't blame yourself for walking past it. That's because it feels a lot more like a castle. The framework, however, had only a brief defensive role for the north-eastern walls. Rather, it was more of an opulent home and has gone through hundreds of years of improvements and expansions. The castle was designed in the 1400s by King Frederick III of Hapsburg and was reshaped periodically until 1843. It was a mix of Gothic architecture and Baroque architecture.
9. Lent
Lent is the oldest part of Maribor and the best example of the region's rich cultural heritage. The town's great fortress dates back to the 16th century and can be seen from one of the oldest streets in the city, Usnjarska ulica. Centuries ago, this was considered the dirtiest street in town because of the leather factories that used to be located here. Now, the street brings visitors past the Water Tower, all the way to the heart of the Jewish city. Another interesting aspect of the fortress is the Judgement Tower, which is connected to the witch trials that once took place in Maribor. Our bus company will make sure you arrive safely at this old and famous landmark of Maribor.
10. Drava river
Discover the rich history of rafting in the past! Enable the raftsmen and their girls to show you the magic of the great work of the past. Your optimistic attitude towards life and culinary specialities should make rafting an unforgettable experience. The rafters of Maribor are the ones who will carry you to Slovenia's autochthonous raft. There is also a form of rafting on land – at the 'raftsmen tavern.' Chartered Bus by Coach Charter Germany will get you there safety.
