A warm welcome awaits you upon arrival Munich Airport by your Tour Director who will be with you from now on throughout your entire stay. -An orientation bus-tour of Munich will show you all sights of interest, including entrance to King Ludwig’s outstanding Horse Carriage Museum, -The following one and a half hour comfortable motorcoach transfer will take you to 3-Country Lake Constance and to your first-class hotel in Lindau, your home for the upcoming 12 nights. -Towards evening enjoy a welcome reception and dinner at your hotel. Your morning tour of charming Lindau starts with an easy walk along its lakeside promenade, its ancient Prison Tower and Port Light House with an impressive lion monument. You will see Lindau’s picturesque Town Hall and half-timbered burgher houses with stepped gables, some dating back to the 15th C. - Soon after, our motorcoach takes us from here along the northern shore of the lake to Meersburg, dominated by a Middle Age castle, From the upper town enjoy a panoramic view over the lake as far as to the Swiss Alpine chain. - Time left to shop or browse around before a ferry takes us across the lake to the Island of Mainau to view the castle of the Swedish Count Bernadette and enjoy its splendid collection of tropical plants, hibiscus, magnolias and a most colorful rose garden. - Ample time is yours now before we later return, this time on the lake’s Swiss side back to our hotel. Today’s bus charter tour takes you into Switzerland and to its largest city Zurich, first to see its landmark and church Peterskirche with a famous 16th C clock and the copper-domed church Frauenmuenster features stain-glass windows by Marc Chagall. Enjoy viewing its nearby old water towers, its main street Bahnhofstrasse lined with fancy shops, department stores and outside walk cafes at its south end for rest and views over Lake Zurich. - Then it is on to Lucerne to visit its 14th C wooden Chapel Bridge, adorned with 112 colorful paintings depict the history of its city and Switzerland, you will be visiting the old Wine Market and Town Hall of Renaissance style, built during the early 17th C and the remarkable Lion Monument at the Glacier Garden, carved in a sandstone rock. - Time at leisure before our motor coach takes us back to Lindau. Your today’s bus-route takes you into Austria, first by way of small-town Rattenberg on the lovely Inn river to attend a workshop demonstration of Austria’s famous engraved glassware, - Soon later, we arrive at Tyrol’s capital Innsbruck to enjoy from its main street an imposing view of Austria’s northern Alpine chain rising up to about 8.000 ft. Within a short walking distance, you will arrive at Innsbruck’s much-praised landmark Golden Dachl, a most charming mansion with a gilded copper roof and built around 1500. - Another worth-seeing visit will be the Hofkirche, a magnificent mausoleum, built for Emperor Maximilian displaying 28 oversized bronze statues of his ancestors and King Arthur of England. - Following these splendid sights time will be on your own before we return to Lake Constance in time for dinner, (B & D / OV)
Following breakfast another beautiful day tour awaits you this morning with a stop at small Swiss town Stein, picturesquely situated on the Rhine banks. You will admire here some of the country’s oldest burgher houses with stepped gables and colorfully painted facades depict scenes of this town’s history. - Your next highlight to view is the Rhine River Falls at Schaffhausen, the most powerful in Europe, A roaring spectacle which poet Goethe has described as "the source of the ocean". - After this refreshing break we continue to nearby Donaueschingen in Germany to view its monumental fountain, known as the source of the Danube river and was constructed in this castle park during the 19th C. - Some later, we enter the fabled Black Forest and arrive at Titisee situated on a picturesque lake of natural beauty. If you wish, shop here for Germany’s famous handcrafted cuckoo-clocks, browse around or just relax at the bank of its lake watching rowboats and sailing boats passing by. - During the later afternoon return to your hotel base in Lindau. A scenic morning bus-drive takes us today southwards back into Switzerlands large Alpine terrain Grisons which forms a vast semicircle marked out by major mountain passes. You motor up the Julier Pass, constructed and used first by the early Romans and arrive St. Moritz with its twin resorts. The country’s most famous and highest mountain center that has enjoyed unparalleled popularity for centuries. An orientation drive of "Dorf" and "Bad" will show you remarkable sights such as the Swiss Leaning Campanile, the world’s oldest ski school and its spa quarter that has been used ever since the Bronze Age. Enjoy its spectacular panorama of surrounding mountains and glaciers that attract each year again a huge number of visitors. -Time at leisure before our motor coach takes us back to our hotel. This morning you leave for one of the most idyllic spots in the Bavarian Alps, first to Breitachklamm and from here on an easy walk to an impressive gorge with its roaring torrents of water. Following an about 15-minutes walk, the galleries will lead you down to a cutting which has been worn 300 ft deep by a turbulent stream, -Later return to your chartered coach and continue to Oberstdorf, a most charming village right amid the Upper Allgaeu Alps in Bavaria, well-known as a summer and winter sports resort and for its artistic wood-carvings. - After this break with good shopping possibilities, your drive takes you up on an Austrian Alpine Road for a stop at a panoramic cafe to be invited for coffee and home-made cake while enjoying from its terrace breathtaking views of mountain chains, deep and unspoiled valleys. - During the afternoon return from this excursion of the beautiful landscape back to Lindau. Other highlights of today await you as we journey by way of Fuessen to Hohenschwangau to visit here King Ludwig’s Cinderalla Castle Neuschwanstein, built 1669 by plans of a theatrical decorator which explains the fairy-tale atmosphere. The inside tour will show you an artificial grotto of stalactite, the unique Throne Room of Romanesque and Byzantine sanctuary, the Singers Hall with fine candelabra and chandeliers. Under the influence of Richard Wagner, you will enjoy several rooms recall themes of his famous operas like Tannhaeuser, Lohengrin and some others. - After this visit, we arrive at nearby Oberammergau at the foothills of the Ammergau Alpa, a world-famous little town for its Passion Plays with next performances from May to September in the year 2010. You will be visiting its theatre with a seating capacity of about 5.000 visitors. Shop or stroll around to view its typical painted houses and don’t miss to visit one of the inviting wood-carving workshops, - Then, the excursion takes you to the Wieskirche, also called The Church In The Meadow, truly a pearl of the Bavarian Alps. Admire its marvelous interior of woodcarvings, frescoes, stuccos and colorful paintings, all masterpieces of the 18th Century by the Bavarian brothers Zimmermann. - Finally and from here today return to your hotel on Lake Constance. Today’s morning tour starts with a short drive back into Switzerland to visit St. Gallen and one of the most beautiful monasteries, a great Baroque building with a world-famous monastic library that houses outstanding works of art and manuscripts from the early and later Middle Ages of the 8th to 12th C. including an illuminated number of works of the 15th and 16th C. bearing witness to the colorful art of Renaissance- - Further south we stop again at Appenzell, an early settlement of St. Gallen monks, known for its embroidery shops, specially decorated cakes and where traditions are still very much alive.- Time left to shop around before we arrive at its Cable Car Station to enjoy from its summit a great panorama of the Austrian and Swiss mountains, as far as Lake Constance and Lake Zurich. With its altitude of about 8.200 ft and as an advanced bastion of the pre-Alps, the Saentis mountain is the highest peak in the Alpstein Massif and represents itself as the chief belvedere of Eastern Switzerland. - Later, during the afternoon return to the hotel. Following breakfast another fascinating journey takes you today to Salzburg, truly one of Europe’s loveliest cities. Your Sightseeing tour includes Mirabell Chateau and gardens, Hellbrunn castle with its magnificent fountains and a 35 bells "Glockenspiel". You will enjoy a clear view of Salzburg’s IIth C Fortress and walk the city’s charming Getreidegasse to visit Mozart’s birthplace house number 9. - Time is yours to do as you please before our drive continues to Mondsee amid Austria´s much-visited Salzkammergut to visit its former collegiate church domed by two towers with a beautiful Baroque facade and crypt, all wedding scenes of the wonderful film "The Sound of Music". - Dinner this evening will be taken way back en route to allow more time for sightseeing. By way of Feldkirch this morning you will cross the border into the principality of Liechtenstein, a fragment of the former Germanic confederation and which beware a sovereign little state by the Emperor in 1719 for the benefit of Prince Hans Adam of Liechtenstein. With only 61 square miles and a population of about 27.000, the capital of Vaduz right at the foot of the imposing castle is well-known for its Museum of Art with masterpiece by Rubens, Rembrandt, Bruegel and others, with most are displayed in rotation, - Following this worth-seeing visit time is on your own, perhaps to send some postcards from here with Liechtenstein’s colorful stamps, for collectors a delight of philatelic art. - Later, on just a short side trip the route takes you to the quaint village of Werdenberg back in Switzerland, framed in deep greenery, sleepy waters of a lake and dominated by a small castle of its former counts. Like an open-air museum here, you will admire picturesque old burgher-houses, some dating back to the 15th C. still preserved in its original architecture. Inscriptions, dates and multi-colored decorative patterns are to be found on many of those house fronts telling about history and their occupier. - Some time at leisure and then return to your home base in Lindau.
