Following breakfast the city tour of one of Europe’s largest ports starts with a drive around the Inner Alster river to enjoy Hamburg’s skyline and numerous church spires, the magnificent City Hall and its historic quarter, the lively landing stage of Jungfernstieg and much more. – Early afternoon you will participate in one of Hamburg’s harbor cruises. – This evening you are invited for dinner at the city’s amusement district of St. Pauli where many restaurants, bars and dance-halls line the illuminated “Reeperbahn”. The morning motor coach drive takes you to the Island of Fehmarn where you board a ferry to Denmark continuing by motor coach to enjoy its verdant landscape and idyllic villages that will enchant you too in search of a gentle pace of life. – Later, arrive at Copenhagen today for dinner and stay the following two nights. Start this morning with a sightseeing tour of Denmark’s capital and visit its former royal residence Rosenborg Slot, the famous amusement park Tivoli Gardens and have a beer at Carlsberg Brewery. Time is yours to shop or browse around before your motor coach takes you early afternoon a few miles north to the beautiful Castle Frederiksborg, right amid a lake and a splendid garden to visit its National History Museum. – This evening join us for a real Danish Smorgasbord dinner. On our morning rout to Sweden we cross by ferry the Oresund to Helsingborg, past heavily forested regions, blooming meadows to its East cost, encounter the flourishing glass industry area of Sweden and the ancient walled city of Kalmar for overnight.Before dinner an orientation drive will show its imposing fortress on the opposite Island Oeland, one of Sweden’s most beautiful castles with its beginnings of the 12th C.
Today’s route takes you further north along the Baltic Sea by way of the Island of Gotland with Scandinavia’s largest fortification and former settlement of the Vikings. Past picturesque villages and the harbor town of Norrkoeping arriving today at Sweden’s capital Stockholm in time for dinner and for the next two nights. (B&D/OV)
A beautiful sightseeing tour of Stockholm is waiting this morning spread to a number of adjacent islands. You will see the Royal Opera House and its crowned City Hall, the ancient church Riddarholm to see some of the State Rooms. – During the afternoon a side trip will take you to Skansen to experience an Open Air Museum that shows a variety of old farm houses, lovely churches and craftsmen’s workshops as used centuries ago. With impressions of Swedish History return to your hotel for dinner. (B&D/OV)
After a good breakfast we depart the city of Stockholm, where the nobel prize banquets are held and travel further west by way of Orebro past traditional farms and continue to Karlstad on lake Vaenern, Sweden’s largest lake and our today’s destination for dinner and overnight. (B&D/OV)
This morning we journey across the border into Norway, known for its great explorers Amundsen and Heyderdahl, the Vikings who set out across the ocean to discover new lands and of its famous composer Edvard Grieg. Then its on to the capital Oslo, where we spend the remaining three nights. (B&D/OV)
The morning tour of Oslo, in a remarkable setting at the end of a large fjord surrounded by forested hills and steep slopes, will show you first its international-known Ski Jump where an elevator takes you up for a breathtaking view over the city. Then our tour leads to the King’s Palace, the National Gallery and to its Parliament building. Following a break you will be visiting Oslo’s 17th C. Cathedral and the Vigeland Park with a display of over 200 monumental sculptures, the only one of its kind in the world! – The rest of the day is yours, preferable to be spend at the lively district of the city’s quays. A most interesting excursion starts this morning with a drive by way of the Renaissance castle Akershus Festning to the peninsula of BYGDØY to visit its famous Norsk Folkemuseum, an outdoor exhibit displaying reconstructed wooden buildings and farms dating back to the Middle Ages documenting the development of rural architecture. – Another highlight is waiting to visit the Kon-Tiki Museum that illustrates the voyages of Thor Heyderdahl, who attempted to discover the routes followed by ancient civilizations. – During the afternoon return to the city center and spend the rest of the day until eve at you leisure. – Your farewell dinner tonight is a festive ocassion with wine, local music and entertainment and in addition a valuable gift is presented to each member of Tour. Following a hearty breakfast this morning your motor coach transfer takes you to the airport of Oslo. Here and finally ends your unforgettable package tour of Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Your Tour Director bids farewell before your flight takes off back home. (B)
